The 90s cartoon Gargoyles is the inspiration behind Stone by Day. The Gargoyles were ancient creatures who turned to stone at sunrise and woke at sunset to protect New York City. The show was surprisingly dark for a 90s cartoon, full of betrayal, revenge, and Shakespeare references, and we were just kids watching it like that was normal. This dark grey jelly is the stone. But look closely at the flakes. Something in there is alive.
